Chapter 1: Some Basic Concepts of Chemistry: This chapter introduces the importance and scope of chemistry. It provides us historical approach to particulate and identify the nature of matter, laws of chemical combinations, Dalton’s atomic theory regarding concepts of elements, atoms and molecules. Atomic and molecular masses. We also take up questions of mole concept and molar mass, percentage composition and empirical and molecular formulas. Questions have been also covered from the topics like balancing of chemical equations and calculations based on stoichiometry.
Chapter 2: Atomic structure or structure of atoms. Ncert Solutions of Chemistry for 11th includes structure of atoms as the 2nd chapter. Chapter 8: Organic chemistry – Some Basic Principles and Techniques. This is the organic part of Ncert Solutions of Chemistry for 11th. Here, we shall learn about general Introduction of organic compounds. Methods of quantitative and qualitative analysis of organic compounds, classification and nomenclature of organic compounds. We should also know about electronic displacement in a covalent bond as inductive effect, electromeric effect, resonance and hyperconjugation. As a reaction mechanism we must know about homolytic and heterolytic fission of a covalent bond which results in free radicals, carbocations, carbanions electrophiles and nucleophiles. Important chemical reactions like addition of hydrogen, halogen, water, hydrogen halide illustrating Markovnikov’s rule and peroxide effect, ozonolysis, oxidation and mechanism of electrophilic addition.
Alkynes. Here, we have to read about the nomenclature, structure of triple bond (ethyne), physical properties, methods of preparation, chemical reactions as acidic character of alkynes, adding reaction of hydrogen, halogens, hydrogen halide and water.
Aromatic hydrocarbons. Introduction about aromatic hydrocarbons and their nomenclature, resonance, aromaticity in compounds, chemical properties, mechanism of electrophilic substitution like nitraton, Sulphonation, halogenation, Friedel- Crafts alkylation and acylation.
